The photo on the left was taken after Palomar swept the Biola University tournament in 1987.  Dondi is in black and Tanya is next to her in pink.  Tanya joined the Palomar speech team in 1983 and won numerous awards in Reader's Theatre, Expository speaking, Persuasive speaking, Poetry, Prose and Communications Analysis.  She waited for Dondi to graduate from high schoolin 1986 so they could compete together with their Dad.  In the next two years, Palomar students won thousands of trophies.  Tanya earned the award of lowest cumulative score in the nation (first place) in Poetry in 1987.  Dondi took first place in the nation for Expository speaking and Runner-Up "Outstanding Speaker in the Nation", 1988.  Dondi and Tanya together with their colleagues took first place in the nation in Reader's Theatre, 1987.  Dondi was the "Most Valuable Speaker" at Palomar two years in a row.  These were some of the best years of their lives with their Dad.

Ray worked at Palomar College for 33 years and attended almost every single commencement so he could personally congratulate the students upon their graduation.  Plus, he loved wearing his cap and gown.

Dr. Ray Dahlin impacted thousands of people through his many years of being chairperson of the  Palomar College Speech, Theater and Dance Department at Palomar College. Additionally he "chaired" American Sign Language, Broadcasting, Radio, Cinema, Television, Speech Audiology and Pathology.  And his assistance with the nationally recognized nursing program at Palomar College was legendary.  He was so proud of his association with Palomar and continued to love his students and colleagues and kept in touch with them his whole life.  From across the nation, more than 200 people attended his retirement party.
